Fashion Design: Viktor & Rolf

For spring / summer '19, designers Viktor Horsting + Rolf Snoeren of Viktor & Rolf debuted a runway collection that was composed entirely of colorful, fun, and voluminous dresses embellished with meme-worthy slogans - appropriately named 'Fashion Statements'. Punchy and familiar phrases such as "i'm not shy i just don't like you" and "i am my own muse" adorned the colossal tulle gowns. The juxtaposition of the text on the elegant dresses created an element of satire, as the garments themselves are already statements but now are accompanied by these charming, funny, and relatable declarations.
