Contemporary Design: Miuniku
London College of Fashion graduates as well as sisters, Nikita and Tina Sutradhar, are the designers behind label Miuniku - the name of the brand conceptualized from the fusion of their nicknames. One of Miuniku's first collections, 'Mundane Things' for AW14 was inspired by just that - geometric shapes and colors of laundry detergent packaging declared as one of the main muses.

The element that establishes continuity from one collection to the next is the inspiration primarily drawn from clean lines, minimalist graphics, and punchy colors. "India inspires us in terms of colour and proportion. It is one of the most colourful countries in the world," says Tina. "It's a mix and match," adds Nikita. "Our cuts and designs are clean and simple but we use colour in a maximal way." The sisters also utilize a mix of various fabrics such as jersey, wool, silk, and organza.
